Deborah Ling

Author Publishing System Coach

I have been in the industry since the late 80's. I started out as an editor for a newspaper. Then I had my own newspaper. After that, I went into editing and helping authors get their work ready for publication. You can be self-publishing or publishing through traditional methods. Either way, I will help you get your work ready for that final step.

Deborah Ling started working on some of our manuscripts in 2014. And I must say, we have been happy with her professionalism ever since. She always go beyond our expectations. I personally love her efficiency. I recommend her to anyone who wants their manuscript worked on to the best standard.

I used Deborah Ling to edit, format and proof a non-fiction book that is 475,000 words in length, encompasses the insertion of many color pictures, which she sized uniformly; and lots of foreign words, which creates havoc with spellcheck software. She also put together 2-different types of indexes, one a typical index and the other an index of life forms that one encounters in sailing around the world.

Deb has been easy to work with, pleasant, responsive, easy to get hold of via email and telephone, and completed the different phases of the work project in a timely manner.

I've worked with Deborah on two books. She turned a collection of missives in MS Word into a final product available to the world to read, understand, and most important, connect to through powerful prose presented in a compelling voice. My books would be far worse if it wasn't for her. As a matter of fact, my first book was!

I have 30 years experience in the industry.
I am experienced in editing all genres of books that I accept.
I format for the various distributors.
I have worked with books that had extensive photos and sized them uniformly.
I have worked with manuscripts that had foreign words, yet researched them and found the proper spelling.
I have indexed a 475000 word manuscript with two indexes that did not overlap.
I keep the voice of the author when I edit.
I finish projects in a timely manner.
I am easily contacted by email or texts.
I am focused and get right to business so as not to waste your time or mine.
I turn collections into books that are cohesive and make sense to the author and the reader.
I am efficient.

When I am finished with your work it will be ready to be published. The editing will have cleaned up the writing and the formatting will have cleaned up the layout. This book can open doors for you for speaking engagements on tv, radio, or in person. It will show the world that you are the expert in your field.

Your book can also lead to other products such as audio, CDs or DVDs. Depending on your niche, your book might lead to classes, an online manual, teachings, or a membership club. It all depends on your book getting the best start you can give it.
I am a professional that knows how to format.  You need your book formatted for easier reading for the end user. You do not want your book to have jagged indents all over the place. You do not want one format at the beginning of the book and different formats found throughout the book.

This book will show you as the expert you are in your niche. It has to look perfect to open other doors for you.
1)      You can make more money on your books. Royalties from distributors can be 35% to 100% if you publish from your own website. Traditional publishers eat up most of the royalties. However, if you use it for leveraging for your product line, coaching, speaking, and live events, you will earn more there and your book will take you there.
2)
You know you will be published. It is guaranteed.
3)
It is faster to self publish. It could take one to two years with a traditional publisher to hit the market. Whereas you could have your book in Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc within weeks.
4)
You retain all control of your book.
5)
If you are successful in self publishing you have a better chance of being discovered by a traditional publisher.
No, I do not work with all genres. I do not accept horror, rated R or Rated X books. Nor am I interested in any romance books that have sexual scenes in them.
In non-fiction books, sometimes facts must be checked.

For instance, I have worked with world travelers and had to check the spelling of various countries and cities that I was unfamiliar with, as well as unfamiliar foods, fish, volcanoes, and animals.

I have also worked with many pastors and their non-fiction books and looked up each scripture to make sure it is quoted correctly from the Bible version used.
