I own and operate Poor Mouchette, a (very) small shop in Portland, Oregon, that specializes in antique and vintage jewelry. Poor Mouchette is primarily a retail storefront, which means we are a good choice for people who might want to consign important pieces of jewelry. Valuations are always free to the public, and you can be assured that you are entering a friendly, low-pressure environment when you bring your jewelry to us. We're sensitive to the emotional connection people form with objects and to the family history your jewelry might have. We aim to be straightforward, to treat all people with kindness and respect, and (whenever possible) to place jewelry in the hands of people who will cherish it.
Feel free to email with questions, prior to your appointment. Photos sent ahead are always helpful and welcome.
We do not evaluate costume jewelry. If you are unsure if your jewelry is fine or costume, please send us an email. We're happy to provide information and testing, on a casual basis, as long as we are not sorting boxes full of of non-precious metals.
Free appointments are provided as a courtesy to members of the public who are looking to place their jewelry. Industry professionals, please get in touch via email.
