Kerri Bishop

Strahlen Grace Coaching

I am a fully trained and certified life coach specializing in using God's Grace to turn struggle and setback into strength and serenity. I have experience with overcoming financial hardship, abuse, abandonment, divorce, pregnancy alone, and PTSD. I also know PTG - Post Traumatic Growth - is a very real and amazing thing when you train to for it!

Coaching is for healthy and well adjusted people. While I work with women post-trauma, I do not take clients in need of counseling or who are in the midst of crisis. If you are in such a situation, please find a counselor who can help you and return to coaching when the time is right! I will happily welcome you back!

My best testimony for coaching with Kerri is that I do dream now, and I am actually excited about whatever the future holds as I’m going forward with plans, instead of stagnating with the past or stalled in the present. I’d forgotten how much I loved riding my bike! I look forward to taking my boys camping! I’m getting that babysitter so that I can carve out some time to take walks, have a glass of wine with girlfriends, go out to eat, etc.

Here’s another best testimony: I’ve signed up for more sessions with Kerri to now focus on healthy, active lifestyle and losing weight because I’m learning to value myself again. I want to be active and healthy because it makes me feel good and I have much more to contribute to my family. Plus, I want to wear cute clothes.

And sometimes, you just need to hear from someone (other than your mother) – that it is okay to dream, permission to value yourself, desire more, and to feel you are good enough. Kerri helped me to rise above the fray and see my beauty in this renewal I was experiencing and it was immensely empowering."

"I always knew (Kerri) was listening well. Her coaching presence made me feel at ease, and I always loved when she'd incorporate a bit of humor, since she knew I needed it. She also asked very good questions - consistently. Queen of the powerful questions."

"Kerri was able to look at things from multiple angles and provide fresh insights and challenges that I could not think of, as was so enmeshed in the situation. She was full of grace and kindness and very encouraging. I think because of her life experience she is able to provide wisdom and courage to others."

"Life coaching with Kerri has been a Godsend for me! I was looking for someone who could lead me out of my darkness and into the light and truth God wants for me. Her keen ear and probing questions have helped me find my truth and my beauty and dig deep within myself. Her rooted faith and keen ear to listen, patient and probing with the Holy Spirit has empowered me to see the dignity I have within myself. She challenges me, listens attentively, and makes me laugh! I’m becoming more of who God created me to be with her guidance, and I feel more Hopeful, Joyful and Thankful!"

Life coaching is just like other kinds of coaching. It's for people who want to actively be in the game!

The coaching I do is mainly with women who have been through some sort of difficult issue and are now stuck. They are not experiencing trauma. Women in trauma need more intense counseling than I can give. Women I work with often own the word survivor but want more out of life than just surviving. Do you want to survive your marriage or parenthood or your career? Of course not! Life coaching helps you get unstuck, find your inner motivation, develop a plan for your good, (and find time to implement it!), all while helping you learn more about yourself and why you do and think as you do!

Other services focus on different things and then tell you what to do to solve your problem. For example, counseling dissects your past and your therapist tells you how to think. Consulting uses a hired expert to fix problems that are too big for you or that you would rather not deal with on your own. Mentoring uses a role model to help you learn a particular skill.

Coaching uses the power of you! I believe you have the answers but have not been trained to ask yourself the right questions or given permission to freely explore answers that are already inside you. I believe you are the expert of your own life. You just need someone who will fearlessly ask you difficult questions, hold you accountable with a little tough love, and care enough to give you space to laugh, think deep, and explore without judgment what God has placed on your heart.
Many women begin seeing results right away! Remember though, it did not take you a few short weeks to get where you are, and you probably won't be finished progressing in a few short weeks either. Coaching is for women who are willing to invest time, energy, and finances in themselves and in bettering their lives for their families and for their careers, but also for God and themselves.

There is usually a slight dip in coaching's progress a few weeks into the program and then it picks back up again with greater insight and clearer vision! This dip is similar to what one might expect at a gym after the New Year. The difference with a gym and coaching is that in coaching I am there to help you stick to the plan that you devise to meet goals you set!
Absolutely! Today, anyone can claim to be a coach, but I have been specially trained through the Professional Christian Coaching Institute and have attained ACC certification through the International Federation of Coaches, the world's leading coaching certification board. I am held to the highest standards in the coaching industry. More importantly, as a Christian, I know I will be answering to the highest authority in Heaven and on Earth one day. Because of my love for God and my clients (and because I have done this coach thing as a sensitive client too), I hold myself to the highest standards I can with your information and never share anything from our sessions without a client's written permission to do so.

  • ICF ACC Life Coaching certification.
I am a math teacher who has taken courses in financial coaching and am now proud to say I am a passionate Dave Ramsey certified Financial Master Coach.
I have also taken a slew of courses in a plethora of areas mostly through the Professional Christian Coaching Institute (PCCI) and have been observed by ICF Master coaches in order to attain my International Coaching Federation ACC Coach status. ICF is the most well-recognized coaching organization in the industry.
I also use Masters in Education/Curriculum Development and my experience teaching kindergarten through high school, HSE for a local community college, and running an international test prep business to develop course materials.
If you want life experience...
That covers the formal experience, but we all know life counts far more than book learning. Personally, I have a whole heap of life experience and have used that to coach women in difficult situations in person, online, and through my blog, Single Mom Smiling, since 2009. In addition to experiencing my own post traumatic growth (PTG), I have spent countless hours over the last 11+ years interviewing overcomers and studying how we can use post traumatic growth (PTG) to strengthen relationships, finances, parenting, divorce recovery, fitness, and more.
What we all want...
Hiring a life coach is a very personal experience. You want to hire a coach who is caring, trustworthy, and well trained. Many will tell you I am all three, but the best way for you to discover this is to see for yourself!
