Each learner will be assessed on their performance, both online in the VLE, and in person when they attend their Face to Face course. We want all of our learners to succeed and will provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to pass, but we need you to be present, in person and mind. This means, leaving work outside of the classroom and working hard with your peers and our tutors to make the most of the course.

We aim to keep all our courses standardised. After booking and payment, a member of our Learner Success Team will enroll you, set up your Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), and send your login details the next working day.

Once logged in, you'll find some mandatory online learning to complete before attending the face-to-face session. This will be clearly outlined during your VLE introduction. You will also be assigned a tutor who will be your main point of contact for any course-related questions, including those about the face-to-face session.

Your joining email will include details about the training venue, such as timings, what to bring, parking information, and other useful details.

Once you complete the online learning, it will be marked and added to your Learner Portfolio, which is a key part of your certification.

After completing both the virtual and face-to-face learning, if you pass, you'll receive your certificate within 5–10 working days. If any part of the course needs to be retaken, you'll be given the opportunity to do so in line with the course requirements.

You can undertake your Virtual Learning at a time and location to suit you, using nearly any device that can connect to the internet, our VLE has been built to enable accessibiltity through mobile phones, tablets, laptops and desk to devices.

Our VLE has been built to enable you to undertake the dedicated theory elements of our courses, this has been done to allow learners the flexibility to learn when it suits them, but also keep our face to face course lengths reasonable as we know that time is valuable at the moment.

We know that everyone learns slightly differently, and hope that in completing the theory elements online, removing the pressure of the classroom and an instructor talking at them, that learners will be able to pace themselves and enjoy the activities on the VLE. 

In short, assessments are usually system marked, these have set answers and will be marked immediately by the VLE, assignments are normally short or long answer questions, have a set marking criteria and will be marked by a course tutor. 

Portfolios are the combination of completed and marked assessments, assignments and face to face course work. All of this makes up the completed work the learner has completed.

For some courses, such as the Tactical and Strategic courses, the portfolios will take longer to complete and will in most cases be completed after the face to face elements, however this will all be explained within the course booking letter.
