Respirator & EARfit Test

Quantitative Respirator Fit Testing uses specialised equipement to measure how well a respirator seals to the wearer's face. It provides a numerical fit factor to ensure the respirator offers the level of protection required by Australian Standards.

A poorly fitted respirator may allow hazardous airborne contaminants such as asbestos fibres, silica dust, mould spores, fumes and other harmful particles to bypass the mask seal. Fit Testing helps ensure workers recieve the protection their respirator is designed to provide.

Fit testing should be completed before a worker first uses a tight-fitting respirator and repeated at least every 12 months, or whenever there is a change that may affect the fit. Such as significant weight change, facial surgery, or changing to a different respirator make or model.

3M EARfit Validation measures how effectively a worker's hearing protection reduces noise exposure. It provides a Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR) allowing employers to confirm each worker is achieving adequate hearing protection.

Every person wears earplugs differently. EarFit Testing confimes ath athe selected hearing protection fits correctly and provides sufficient noise reduction, helping prevent noise-induced hearing loss.

Yes. Workers must be clean shaven wherever the respirator seals against the face. Facial hair in the sealing area can prevent an adequate seal and may result in a failed fit test.
