I'm a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP). I offer healing for body and mind with an emphasis on creating safety and progressing at a pace that feels good for you, the client. My SE training consisted of 3 years and nearly 300 hours of learning, consultation, and supervision to receive certification. I support adults and kids in feeling better in body and mind so they can do better in life and relationships.
I offer Somatic Experiencing Sessions, Somatic Touch, and the Safe and Sound Listening Protocol. Sessions with me help you return to feelings of goodness and ease. I provide a safe space that supports building capacity to connect with your body and mind, allowing you to handle life's ups and down with ease. Sessions include psycho-education and gentle guidance to support the release trapped stress energy that has accumulated due to an extremely busy lifestyle or as the result of difficult or traumatic experiences.
Somatic Experiencing, created by Dr Peter Levine 45+ years ago, is a gentle, holistic method for managing and releasing accumulated stress and trauma. The process helps you to feel better, have more capacity for handling everyday stress, and increases energy to help you reach your goals. SE is the main modality I use in my healing practice. This intervention, based on the wisdom of the body and the nervous system in particular, is the backbone of my practice and is included whether or not you also choose to receive Somatic Touch or the Safe and Sound Listening Protocol. Somatic Touch is a based on a method called Somatic Practice which was developed by Kathy L. Kain. In these sessions, you lay on your back on a 'massage' table and receive gentle, safe, non-invasive touch from me. These sessions regulate and settle your nervous system. Somatic Touch work is non-manipulative and completely safe. Clients who are comfortable receiving Somatic Touch find it extremely relaxing and healing. The Safe and Sound Listening Protocol was developed by Dr, Stephen Porges, the author of the Polyvagal Theory, and has been in use for many years. The SSP was designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience by calming the physiological and emotional state. This intervention opens the door for improved communication and more successful therapy so it is a wonderful place to begin your healing. The SSP consists of 5 hours of digitally altered popular music. It is safe for both children and adults. Depending on the client and the intervention needed, the protocol is delivered for 1 hour per day over 5 consecutive days. Alternately, I also offer the SSP in conjunction with SE or Somatic Touch. The client listens to the music in smaller bits over a longer period while being supported with SE and/or Somatic Touch. Each clients' nervous system and needs are unique, so we determine the best direction individually. The SSP is only offered in person in the Pasadena, CA area of Los Angeles.
