Perth Birth Support & Placenta Encapsulation

I help pregnant Perth couples to get the birth they REALLY WANT, without the drama, through evidence-based physical, emotional and informational support as their PERSONAL CHILDBIRTH EDUCATOR and UNRIVALLED BIRTH SUPPORT, someone to be by your side without limits or judgment.

After birth, women hire me to help them get EXTRA HORMONES and IRON without the ick factor. I provide PLACENTA ENCAPSULATION as a palatable way for them to consume their placenta without having to touch it (or see it for that matter).

Placenta Services Options include UMBILICAL CORD KEEPSAKES, NATURAL AND COLOUR DIGITAL FRAMED PLACENTA PRINTS and MOTHER'S BROTH.

For FIFO FAMILIES or those needing EXTRA SUPPORT AFTER BIRTH, my POSTPARTUM DOULA service will ensure that you have someone there to give you NOURISHMENT through DELICIOUS MEALS, a clean home and CARING HELP with your baby.

Kelly went above and beyond and I cannot thank her enough for preparing my placenta for encapsulating.

When our birthplans went out the window from homebirth to an emergency premature delivery Kelly made it as easy an imaginable for us to to get the placenta into her trustworthy hands.

She created a beautiful print of my placenta and an umbilical keepsake out of the goodness of her own heart which I still treasure now.

Kelly also went out of her own way to pick up and drop hospital name tags that were accidentally left behind.

Thank you so much Kelly!”

Kelly spent many hours quite literally at my back offering nurture and support.

From the very first meeting, I felt that I was able to "click" with Kelly, which led to me very quickly starting to feel comfortable and trusting around her.

Kelly provided a wealth of important and useful (evidence-based!) information about birth and shared freely of her time, her books and her essential oils
When I unexpectedly had a premature rupture of my membranes at 34 weeks, followed by a pre-term birth a week later, Kelly went above and beyond the call of duty - she ended up spending not one, but TWO (!!) sleepless nights in hospital with me and then came to visit me during my hospital stay as well.

Despite the awkward and unexpected turn that my pregnancy and labour took, I was able to have a gentle, calm and pleasant birth experience - thanks in large part to Kelly's calm, matter-of-fact and nurturing approach

Kelly was fantastic to deal with after my homebirth in October.
Her service as first class and she made it one less thing I had to think about after the birth.

I work throughout the Perth (Western Australia) metro area specialising in from King Edward Memorial Hospital/Family Birth Centre and south to Peel Health Campus, east to Armadale Hospital. I also attend homebirths (where a registered midwife is present)
Generally, I do not meet with Placenta Encapsulation clients before the birth, I am happy to answer any questions that you may have via phone or email though, so any questions contact me!
Here are some tips I give to my clients who wish to keep their placenta for encapsulation but can be used by anyone (thanks to Kelly Harper at Elemental Beginnings:
https://www.elementalbeginnings.net/blog/how-do-i-get-my-placenta-from-hospital).

1.  It is YOUR placenta, not the hospital's.  You can keep it if you wish!

2.  Put it in writing - make a note of it in your birth plan, discuss it with your care provider and have them put it in your notes.  You don't have to tell them why you want to keep your placenta.

3.  Remind hospital staff upon arrival and after baby is born that you want to keep your placenta.

4.  Have your partner / birth support person / doula act as your Placenta Minder.  Put them in charge of ensuring you get your placenta so you can concentrate on the birth and your new baby instead of worrying where your placenta is.  This beautiful Placenta Minder in the picture made sure her friend's placenta was all kept even though it was manually removed in pieces.

5.  If you are planning on consuming your placenta in any way, get it in the fridge or on ice as soon as possible.  I recommend taking your own small cooler with you and asking the hospital for ice so that it doesn't have to leave your possession.

6.  In the event that your placenta needs to go to pathology, request that only small samples are taken so that you can have the rest.  If you are going to practice placentophagy, it is important that your placenta doesn't come into contact with any formaldehyde, preservatives etc

Placenta Services Australia (of which I am a member of the Committee) has provided this information about the very common Group B Strep: https://placentaservices.com.au/what-do-we-know-about-placenta-encapsulation-and-group-b-strep/
BEFORE COLLECTION/DROPOFF OF PLACENTA:
If you choose to cancel after booking, or your placenta is sent to pathology (before any placenta collection/preparation has begun) a $50 booking fee will be retained.

This is because I am a trained professional, and this is a business (not just a hobby), and like other service businesses it is unlikely that I can fill your booking at a late stage.

I may have turned other enquiries away already, I may have incurred travel or other costs, and I have ongoing costs of maintaining my business such as website, maintaining current certifications, insurance, business registration and so on.

AFTER COLLECTION OF PLACENTA:After placenta processing has begun, there is no refund payable for change of mind. So remember IT IS YOUR PLACENTA!
