Participant Agreement

Emergence is a small and intimate retreat offering space to pause, listen and allow what is emerging to be known.

Over our time together, we will draw on reflection, meditation, breathwork, embodied practice, spiritual inquiry, time in nature and the wisdom of being in community.

This agreement is intended to create clarity and care around our time together and the commitment we are each making to Emergence.

By accepting a place on the retreat, you agree to the following.

Your place and payment

Your place at Emergence is confirmed once your retreat fee has been paid in full.

Your contribution covers the retreat programme and the accommodation, meals and activities included within your chosen option.

Travel to and from Findhorn and personal expenses are your responsibility unless otherwise agreed.

If you are a resident, you can arrive from 4pm on Monday 7th September to settle into your room but the retreat starts formally on Tuesday 8th September at 9am.

If you are unable to attend

We understand that sometimes circumstances change unexpectedly.

50% of your retreat fee is non-refundable, as your place has been specifically reserved for you and commitments are made on the basis of your participation.

However, we do not want this part of your investment to be lost.

If you are unable to attend Emergence, the value of this 50% can be transferred to individual sessions with either:

• Monica Douglas – 1:1 supervision or reflective practice sessions; or

• Elmer Postle – 1:1 Breathwork and/or Craniosacral sessions.

Sessions can be booked up to the value of this 50% and must be used within 12 months of the retreat date.

The remaining 50% of your retreat fee will be refunded if you let us know that you are unable to attend before the retreat begins.

The value transferred to individual sessions is personal to you and cannot be transferred to another person or exchanged for cash.

If we need to cancel

If Monica and Elmer need to cancel Emergence, you will receive a full refund of all retreat fees you have paid.

We cannot accept responsibility for additional costs such as travel, insurance or other arrangements made independently.

We therefore recommend that you have appropriate travel insurance covering cancellation, travel and any personal circumstances that may affect your ability to attend.

Your wellbeing and participation

Emergence is a retreat and reflective space. It is not therapy, medical treatment or a substitute for professional medical, psychological or therapeutic support.

Some of the practices offered may invite emotional, physical or spiritual exploration.

You remain responsible for your own physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing and for deciding whether a particular practice or activity is appropriate for you.

Everything offered during Emergence is an invitation.

You are always free to pause, modify or choose not to participate in an activity. We encourage you to listen to yourself, honour your boundaries and communicate your needs to us where appropriate.

Please let Monica or Elmer know before the retreat about any accessibility requirements, allergies, dietary requirements or other needs that may affect your participation.

Breathwork, Craniosacral work and embodied practices

The retreat may include Breathwork, Craniosacral work, movement, meditation, reflective inquiry and other embodied or contemplative practices.

Participation in these practices is voluntary.

Please let us know about any relevant health considerations that might affect your participation so that appropriate adjustments can be discussed.

Where a practice requires additional or specific consent, this will be discussed with you before taking part.

Confidentiality and community

Emergence is intended to be a space in which people can speak, listen and explore with trust.

You agree to respect the privacy of other participants and not to share another person's personal story, experience or identifying information outside the retreat without their permission.

We ask everyone to participate with respect for different experiences, beliefs, identities and perspectives.

Monica and Elmer will also treat what you share with care and confidentiality, except where there is a serious concern about someone's safety or where disclosure is required by law.

Photography, recording and sharing

We will not assume permission to use photographs, recordings, testimonials, quotations or personal reflections from the retreat publicly.

If we would like to photograph, record or share something involving you, we will ask for your consent.

We also ask that you do not photograph, record or publicly share another participant or their personal experiences without their permission.

Time in nature

Some of our time together may take place outdoors, including on beaches, paths and uneven natural ground.

You are responsible for deciding what feels physically safe and appropriate for you and for wearing suitable clothing and footwear.

Activities and excursions are offered as invitations and you are free to decide whether or not to participate.

Personal belongings

Please take reasonable care of yourself and your personal belongings during the retreat.

Monica Douglas and Elmer Postle cannot accept responsibility for loss of or damage to personal belongings, except where responsibility cannot legally be excluded.

The spirit of our agreement

Emergence is being created as an intentional space of presence, curiosity and mutual care.

We invite you to come without needing to know exactly what will emerge.

In doing so, we each take responsibility for our choices, boundaries and needs, while contributing to the care and integrity of the space we create together.

By signing this agreement, you confirm that you have read and understood the arrangements above and wish to participate in Emergence on this basis.
