Friends of Youth

Part of a team that develops future leaders through many worthwhile programs.

We meet every Thursday, presently at Shirley's Diner in Millard, 138th and R Streets, at 7:15 am.  Our club, one of eleven Optimists Clubs in Omaha, directly supports 14 ongoing youth focused programs every year.  At our Thursday morning meetings we bring in great speakers that keep our members up to date on business, non-profit organziations, youth programs, volunteer opportunites, and sometimes just fun stuff.  We occassionally take on additonal projects or tasks to improive future leaders of Omaha.

Each year, we have an Essay Contest and an Oratorical Contest.  These are open to kids in the 8th grade through High School.  We pay out scholarships for the winners.  We also offer other scholoarship programs.

The Optimists civic organization is over 104 years old.  Come check it out.

Our club has 34 members (including some big names in Omaha).  On a Thursday morning, you will normally see 15-18 of our members in attendance.  There are many great Optimists, and many great Optimists Clubs aroud Omaha, but ours is the best!

If you are a speaker and looking to get the word out for your new endeavor, ask me about speaking to our group.
